Register to Have a Team of Nonprofit Techies Coach Your Organization for FREE!

The Nonprofit Technology Conference, hosted by N-TEN, is meeting in Washington, DC on April, 2007. As part of this annual gathering, nonprofit techies will participate in a Volunteer Day of Service that lets them share their expertise with local nonprofits through predefined on-site projects.  NPower Greater DC Region is partnering with N-TEN to bring some of the best nonprofit technology experts to work with your organization at no cost.

Your organization can apply for free support on ONE of these projects:

  • Skills Coaching

Day of Service volunteers will provide small group or one-on-one software coaching sessions with your staff on-site. Coaching sessions will be available for Word, Excel or Outlook at novice, beginner, or intermediate levels.

  • Network Notebook/Network Check List:

Day of Service volunteers will work with you to develop an on-site comprehensive technology reference for your organization - a Network Notebook. This convenient and quick point-of-reference for your internal tech operations will house your hardware and software inventories; network maps; customizations and settings; passwords; security considerations; and support information. Your Network Notebook will be an indispensable for your operations & technology managers, "accidental techies," tech consultants & volunteers.

How do I sign up?

Register to participate in the Day of Service by completing this form. NPower Greater DC Region will review your request, confirm your registration, and send you a waiver and a Memo of Understanding that describes the volunteer project. Requests for volunteers will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis until January 23, 2007.

Is my organization eligible to participate?

The number of organizations that can participate is limited. Preference will be given to:

  • Small and midsize nonprofits (organizations with less than $1.5 million annual operating budget)
  • Nonprofits located within 20-30 minutes of downtown Washington, DC (via car or public transportation)

What does my organization have to do in return?

Please sign and return the "Memo of Understanding" and waiver to NPower Greater DC Region by January 23, 2007 to secure your volunteer match. On morning of Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 8:30 a.m., you will need to attend a brief kick-off event and orientation at the Omni Shoreham Hotel at 2500 Calvert Street, NW. Here you will meet your volunteer team and transport them back to your office. You will work on your project until approximately 2:30 p.m. when you and your volunteers are invited to join the NTC "Science Fair," a mini-trade showcasing nonprofit technology services and products.  This show kicks off the Nonprofit Technology Conference.

Please also prepare to provide lunch for your volunteers.
