Congratulations Peace X Peace and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation the 2008 Technology Innovation Award winners!

The NPower Greater DC Region Technology Innovation Awards (TIA), presented by Accenture, recognizes nonprofits in our community whose innovative use of technology enables them to more effectively fulfill their missions. The winners are announced at our annual luncheon.

This year’s awards were segmented by budget size. Peace X Peace, with an annual budget under two million dollars, is being recognized for creating the Peace X Peace Global Network, an online program that uses open source solutions of Drupal and CiviCRM to create a platform for sharing information  about best practices to advance women and peace across the world. With a budget size over two million dollars, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation created GLASER (Global AIDS System for Evaluating and Reporting), a system designed to combat limited infrastructure and slow internet connections in the 18 different countries they operate in to improve data quality, availability, and precision.

These charities each received a “full suite” of technology services valued at $35,000 including a strategic technology consulting plan from NPower Greater DC Region (underwritten by Accenture), Microsoft software, and $1,000 in cash.

A runner-up in each budget category was also chosen. With a budget size under two million, The Posse Foundation was recognized for integrating five new “off the shelf” technology tools to sustain their growth. The U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association & Foundation with a budget size over two million, has leveraged technology to encourage alumni, parents, and friends of the U.S. Naval Academy to frequent their website in efforts to raise, manage, and disburse private gift funds.
